<p>Question: I popped from 2 to 3 boxes tonight, but I can’t see more than 5 “reppers” and they are the same 5 that were there when I only had 2. What/who am I missing?</p>

<p>For those of us who have been on cc since dinosaurs roamed the earth, we’ve frequently gotten requests from posters to read their essays. This is nothing new, and may or may not have anything to do with the green squares. They just hit a whole bunch of posters with PMs til the get someone to read their essay. Call me harsh, but I now ignore them and dont respond.</p>

<p>I usually help with essays if someone PMs me, but I never volunteer when they post a thread. Usually they are because I’ve posted on particular college threads. I actually enjoy it, but I wouldn’t want to be inundated. Most of them have been quite good - even some of the sports ones.</p>
<p>If I have no idea who a poster is, anything about them and suspect they are asking via PM many many people to read their essay (which often then becomes someone editing or possibly tweaking their essay for them which is perhaps not ok in some situations), I have now chosen to let them find someone else.</p>
<p>Is there an issue with proofreading and/or editing essays? Assume I know the difference between those two and “rewriting” (because if I don’t, then the answer doesn’t really matter). My biggest concern was that I’d end up with an irritated or despondent highschooler stalking me based on my response.</p>
<p>I have stated that I refuse to edit any essays for a school to which my S is applying.</p>

I lied (well not at the time…), this is addictive and I would not mind joining jym, LI, and whoever precedes me, at the final level. Going back to the video game analogy, I’ve never won a single one, gotten past amateur levels, and I can see the end if I don’t stall out! :)</p>

I believe the power of the reps is a combination of yrs on cc, # of posts and # of greenies/reps. I too am wondering if the total # of reps one has over and above the maximum 11 boxes adds more value to the reps at 11 boxes. Dunno. Last I heard, someone told me my reps were worth 58 pts, but you folks have been kind enough to continue to add to my total rep count (now over 2450)- so I am wondering what my reps are worth now. Who wants to test it??</p>
