so is the barron’s literature workbook good or not? because I got it and am taking the test in like a week and have been studying with it… now i’m worried!

Oh man! Hello!
Firstly, thank you so so so much for all your tips.
However, I need major help.
I currently have the Barron’s, and i’ve been scoring between 630-690 for the tests!!! I’m ffreaking out totes.
May I ask if you have any advice? My test is in 4 days!!! I read what you said about Kaplan, but I wouldn’t possibly have the time to go out and buy it.
Any good links where I can take the test from Kaplan? Anything?
PLEASE HELPPPP.

Barron’s GREAT. It’s just way more difficult than the original SAT II, so don’t freak out.

I’m taking this exam Saturday and I’m really nervous about it.

I’ve been doing the KAPLAN book and steadily improving my score of 610 (first time taking it) to around a 730, but today i took the 6th practice test in it and my score was 610 again.

AP Lang has not helped one bit, as I usually get around 88% of the practice AP MC questions right but I can’t do poetry for ****.

Any advice for some effective last-minute studying? I don’t want to end up with below a 700 on this retake.

If I’m pulling a 690 - 720 semi-consistently on the Barron’s tests, how will I do for the real one? :/

Also, what frustrates me about the Barron’s tests is that some of the answers are WRONG. Also, weirdly some of the questions require extremely technical knowledge to answer - there’s this question that requires you to know what Queen Anne’s Lace / ragweed is, which I clearly did not know. I’m assuming these kind of questions won’t come up on the actual test but they’re still frustrating to see…

You will need CB’s blue practice test book for the subject tests. The one literature test in it is critical! Take it about one week before the real thing to gauge your level of preparation (doing this the night before isn’t very helpful).

Haha

Well this is going to be great.

Out of curiosity, if I scored a 5 on the Lit and Comp AP exam, where can I expect to fall in scoring for this subject test? Also, night before study crew assemble. We have no shame.

@SKTT1Impact Yeah I’m taking it tomorrow too. I’ve been in advanced English classes and did well in AP English Lang sophomore year. I asked my current AP english lit teacher about the sat II and she said if I’d been on the english honors track all of high school I would be completely fine. So I’m not really not too worried but maybe if your english teachers weren’t very good then try to cram more intensely? Good luck!

How do y’all think it went? I just got out. (We can’t discuss specific questions but yeah)

@LAMuniv I didn’t think it was bad. I probably got a few wrong but overall I think I did well.

I’m feeling 800. Hmmmm 800

I can taste it from here

The first passage was the most difficult.

Ok, so my post isn’t going through I think because of a link, so my question is how do the practise tests in the xtremepapers SAT II Literature Success pdf measure up to the real thing

I’ve done like 6 of the Kaplan tests, AND memorized the literary terms–but im still getting 680s! What do I do? My test is in four days!

Hello everyone. I scored a 580 on my CR in the SAT 1. Am I advised to take the literature SAT or would I just score even worse? I love poetry as they teach a lot of poetry at school in Delhi. And I do read a lot of classics.

You say that it’s like the critical reading section on SAT1, does that mean the same strategies there can be applied here?
A strategy I like is to read the questions first then instead of reading the passage, just skimming through and picking out the answer. It works very well for me and I get high scores - but would this strategy work on Literature? Do i need a more holistic view of the passage in this test?
sorry if this question has been asked already >.<""
Hi guys, I just bought the PR book for the literature subject test. I am hoping to get a 800 and was wondering whether the PR book is good enough to prepare me for such a score. I have read a lot of stuff on the internet about the PR book with some negative reviews also. My main question is, if I work diligently, is the PR book a good enough resource to help me attain a 800?
I’m going into my junior year. Last year I took the new PSAT last fall and got a 690 on the reading and writing portion. I am an avid reader and I do a lot of extracurricular writing; not to say that I wouldn’t have to study terms, but I know words like couplet and trochee like the back of my hand. I don’t know if it’s worth mentioning, but I took honors English in ninth and tenth grade and got a 95 in each course. I will be taking AP Language next year and was wondering when I should take the Literature subject test. I would rather not wait until I am finished with the curriculum because at that time I will most likely prefer to take Bio, Math 2, and US History, which I definitely would not want to take earlier. I am willing to study from a Kaplan book over the summer. When should I take the subject test in Literature? How much better would I do if I waited longer to take it?
