I will only be able to tour maybe 1 of my schools, at most 2. I’m not applying to any schools that are crazy competitive, but I know not showing real genuine interest can be detrimental to an application. How can I do that with just viewing a website ? Thank you!
You should be fine. Many applicants don’t visit schools until they have already been accepted. Although I do not recommend this, some students accept offers without having even visited the school.
You can visit the Admissions web pages and see whether they will be sending representatives to your area. If you cannot find that information, you should e-mail an inquiry. Voila! Interest demonstrated. If they are sending someone to your area, but you are unable to schedule an interview or attend a presentation, try to get that individual’s name, and e-mail a polite explanation of why you cannot attend. The most qualified seniors often will have busy schedules that preclude attending these events, and so the admissions reps will understand, but they will appreciate the effort.
In addition, many schools have virtual tours now online. Just google: School Name Virtual Tour.
