How to ask for letters of rec. for a transfer

I worry that by virtue of asking, I am somehow insulting my professors-- and that will make the letters worse...

How do you tactfully say:

I think I can get a better education elsewhere, and my chances of getting into the grad school of my choosing will greatly increase by not going here/You don't offer the classes I need-- So please help me go somewhere else

I asked my profs in person if they could write me a strong LOR and set up a meeting with them. Only at the meeting did I tell them why I needed said LOR. I framed my reasons for transferring as a matter of fit as a “it’s not you it’s me” sort of thing.

Both my professors were great about the whole thing… they wanted me to be happy.
