Hi there everyone.
For us rising seniors, I think it's high time to ask for teacher recommendations.
I, however, have no idea how to do this. I think everyone would benefit from knowing the most respectful way to secure a recommendation, and how to write a proper thank-you letter.

Anyone with advice, please feel welcome to post.

"Hi, I was just wondering if, well... Do you think you know me well enough to write a recommendation for college?"

I mean, that's a yes or no question, but my teachers basically understood that I was asking them to write one, and thankfully, they both nodded emphatically. Then I thanked them warmly and gave them an idea of when I'd be back with the information they needed.

Afterschool:
"hey mr b, can you write me a reccomendation?"
"a rec? for college?"
"uhh.. yea.. duh!"
"oh! ok!!!"
"cool! thanks!"

I dont think he has written many recs in his career..
I'll definetly write him a thankyou card at the end of the year - not just for the rec.. for being a good teacher and all

Go for the teachers that you like & know or are pretty sure that like you. Just go up to them polietly & ask. If there's a teacher you know particually well or are an aid (I'm the english & history teachers aid)for them, be sure to ask them, they can say more than just how you are academically. And if you're not the best in the class, but still a good person & the teacher knows that, still ask. My friend was not the best in her sr. english class but the teacher still wrote her a nice rec. Bottom line: be polite & ask those that know you well.

Many teachers write recs all the time, and get asked by tons of students. Just be polite and nice about it, make sure the teacher doesn't have anything else going on, and shoot the teacher a question. Simple.
