I did look it up. Maybe I didn’t phrase it right. My real question behind it was, if two different disciplines means one math/science and one humanities/language each or just not two english teacher recs?
Hey guys. Am I the only one struggling to find official teacher recommendation forms for a specific college? SO most colleges are just expecting a letter?
A letter with the commonapp form!
Okay…I’m all set with recs and everything, but I have one question. How do I give my teachers gentle reminders without sounding totally obnoxious?
You should be able to figure that one out for yourself. Do you not know how to remind someone of something?
This is a dumb question, but I am lost. When you give your teacher the dead line for the recs, is it the application deadline (which is in January for me)?
Also, is it OK if I send in two recs even though the college only require one?
What is this CommonApp form???
A Common Application form is the teacher recommendation form that is available with the Common Application(don’t ask me what that is, please). Your teacher can write stuff about you in the space provided or she can attach a letter along with the form, filling in the necessary bubbles there.
Also, your teacher can send a separate letter, instead of the CommonApp form but he/she must answer all the questions that the CommonApp asks.
Check commonapp.org for further details.
Hi, I have a question:
I’m applying to Georgetown University Early Action and it requires one teacher recommendation from a teacher from a Junior or Senior course. I’m applying to Georgetown College and not going into the Science/Pre Med or Language programs. For “Other Programs” it only says “a teacher of your choice.” The teacher who knows me best is my yearbook adviser, who also taught me in History of the Motion Picture. She would definitely write me the best recommendation, but I did not have her in a “core class.” It never specifies what type of teacher on the rec, but on most of the other recs it says the teacher must be a English/Math/Science, etc. Would it be ok to go with my yearbook teacher or should I just ask my English teacher who would write me a decent rec?
Call Georgetown
Hey, thank you so much all for lots of info
I have a question. (It might be silly, but I just could not figure it out,…)
Actually, I’m applying to really numerous colleges.
Some of them are using common app but some of them don’t.
So I just wondered should I get the common app one and the other colleges which do not use common app, respectively?
Plus, for the common app, should the teachers feel it online or should they type and give guidance office for future copies?..
If anybody can give me a response, I would really appreciate it!
Thank you
What does it mean if the teacher you ask for a rec says, “I will try” ? This is a senior year teacher who has known me for about a month.
Is it better to not have her write the rec?<br>
Thanks in advance for replies. : )
appleofmyeye, try to get another teacher if you can… the one you asked doesn’t sound too reliable or enthusiastic about writing your letter.
plus the teacher’s only known you for 1 month, so it’s probably difficult to write a letter about you.
Are you suppose to give them the evaluation forms or are you to ask them to check for the commonapp email that you have sent to invite them?
true that man
Um…so this is really weird but one of the teachers that I am getting a recommendation from for ED Wharton just emailed me that she doesn’t have a “type write” (***?) so she wants me to fill out the Common App forms (like the fill in the blank stuff) for her and she will just sign it tomorrow. She emailed me what she wants to put in each category and it’s honestly a FANTASTIC recommendation, I was really happy.
But I’m not sure if I’m ALLOWED to do that? I mean I guess I could just follow her directions (she’s a really really busy teacher because besides AP Physics she also teaches remedial Geometry and they give her a hard time) and maybe have my parents just write what she wanted to write (since my handwriting is pretty “girly”). Technically as long as her signature’s on the bottom no one will know, right? And she did email me exactly what she wanted me to put in each category. But still. It just feels a little wierd to be doing this.
She’s still typing my actual letter herself and giving it to me tomorrow, though.
So any advice? Should I just do what she says?
^^ just make sure you don’t check the box that says you waive the right to see it!
QUESTION!

I have a questioonnn
On the Duke website, they said that they require two letters of recommendation from teachers of academic courses…so would a class like AP Computer Science, um, not count?
'Cus it’s like, an elective class right? ARGGGH.
