How to avoid score plateau?

Hi guys I was just wondering if any of you had any advice for me. After taking my first SAT ( I got a 2070) I've been taking multiple practice tests and sections and I can't seem to raise my score beyond a 2120 in one sitting. I'm frustrated because although my score is good it hasn't changed in a month or two. Is there anyone who has experienced something similar or knows anything that can help? Also, I make some pretty dumb mistakes so any tips at avoiding those would be appreciated as well.

What else are you doing besides taking practice tests?

@CHD2013‌ I go to a tutor service 2 times a week and I do my best to do practice problems at home. I feel like a big part of the problem is making simple mistakes on the tests, but I just can’t avoid them.

I haven’t seen you describe your review of the tests yet. Do you spend as much time reviewing the tests as you do taking them. Do you review concepts that seem weak if you are regularly missing them (especially in math a and grammar)?

In terms of simple mistakes, there could be a lot of issues. One of the more common is simply not reading the questions carefully enough. Many people look at even the math section as a reading test. The questions and answers are meant to confuse you. Try to read more carefully and also study the way questions and answers are constructed so you now how to spot the attempts the writers are making to confuse you.

Yes, you got to review your test results carefully and see what is the problem area. If you are making silly mistakes then you might want to take a couple of tests: not timed. Take them really slowly and see how you score. If you score higher then you know you have identified the problem and the clock is getting to you. You have to go back to taking timed tests but I think it is important to isolate the issue.
Are you scoring about the same in each section?

@sanwal it fluctuates based on each test but I usually score around a 700 in each section give or take 10 - 20 points on each section each time. And I think I’ll take one without being timed that seems like a great idea thanks.

and yes guys I review all the questions I get wrong with scrutiny to see what my mistakes are.
