We all know that colleges love involvement in our ECs, so was wondering how I could be more involved with them.

So, here are the ECs I'm in:

Swim Team - I'm not a senior yet, so I can't be captain yet. I'm not sure if there's other positions available.

Math Team - I'm not sure if there's leadership positions in this at all.

Lit Mag - I have a good shot at becoming editor, but that will be in two years.

Mu Alpha Theta - I tried to run for a position, but unfortunately, I didn't get in.

Youth Legislature - Should I try to run for a position in this?

Orchestra - Highly unlikely I could get first chair, and I wouldn't want to be anyways.

the quantity or quality of extracurricular activities doesn’t matter the colleges as long as you can show that you are dedicated to something (have been participating actively for a long time) and you can show leadership, but the leadership position can be anytime, even senior year. Anyways, I think that if you show the committment in all of your clubs, you stand a very good chance at being an officer. You don’t need to be a captain/officer for all 4 years of high school, a position senior year should be enough

Most colleges don’t factor ECs into admission, but determine admission by gpa, test scores and (if the colleges are public universities) one’s state of residence.

Usually, it’s only the very top colleges that have an overabundance of high stat applicants that factor ECs into admission.

If I wanted to get into a non-competitive college, I wouldn’t be asking this question on this forum, now would I?

chaosakita, I am not going to a “competitive” college yet I have been posting here for the last 2 years
