How to become a female college basketball manager and if it's best for me.

Well I’m a Sophmore in high school right now but I’ve been the basketball teams manager during my 8th, and 9th year of school. I started out in middle school as the girls manager. I practiced with them washed jerseys for the game the next day or just early to be prepared, brought out the practice jerseys before the girls started and paid attention the game. In my 9th grade year I started out the JV boys manager for my school and I mainly went to all the practices prepared water bottles for practices that were in our gym or at a local gym and during the games I provided towels, cold water bottles and made sure the coach had his dry erase board then later on in the season I made my way up to managing the Varsity boys and did the same things I did for the JV boys. I also kept the score when I had to when the coach didn’t have anybody else to do it and I also filmed games when he needed my help with those things. Our team had went on a good run and made it to the playoffs at Wake Forest. I made sure I was at school atleast 30 minutes before we were to leave to make sure we had all our jerseys, towels, bottles, and other necessary things that they needed. When we got to the event me and the other managers made sure we had got all the bags off the bus and made our way to the lockeroom to make sure we are prepared for the game. Me and the managers had got passes and made our way around the court to check out where we were going and how to get around the place. I was very attached to the team more than I thought I was because when we almost made it to the championship that last shot that failed made me hurt just as much as the players. I cried my eyes out while they were in the locker room and me the managers and the trainers were in the wake forest media room. I have a true passion for managing in the sports industry being interactive with the team helping out, and making sure that everything was handled and not out of order. I really want to go to college for that and strive to make it to a position in the NBA or even if I had the chance in the NFL.

I’m not sure if this is something you can get into college for, but you can take courses (I believe it is a major at some colleges but not all of them) in sports management.

I know there’s nothing that I can get into college for but I’ve read about managers like from Duke and other schools have gotten many opportunities and some are now working with NBA teams. That’s why I was wondering about this topic.

Definitely look into colleges where you can major in sports management, or have a basketball team you can manage/assistant manage.
