How do you become a team physician, like a doctor for the Lakers or other sport teams??? What steps do you have to take (go to med school?, major?, program?) I really wanna be a team doctor for the los angeles lakers!!

i really wanted to do that when i was younger too....seems like a fun job i'm sure u'd have to actually become a doctor first.

so what kind of doctor should i be? im so confused on what steps i need to take

i think there is a specialization called "sports medicine" but then again u r still in HS so u should be more concerned with what u want to major in in college rather than what you want to specialize in second or third year of med school (if u even get there).

wat should i major in? is there a specific program that i should take?

whatever you enjoy

"kobe's guilty" cough cough

w/e da grl was a slut....pls neone, help me make a plan on how to do wat i wanna be

Sports medicine is often through orthopedic surgery. This is a reasonably competitive residency, and I'm sure pro sports teams look for strong pedigrees. This is one of the instances where I suspect prestige of med school/residency do matter.

do i have to do a program concerning orthopedic surgery in undergraduate school and go on from there, or do i just do premed and then go to med school...im so confused

What? No, you simply go to medical school.

To do sports medicine, can you just simply go to medical school

ok...u go to college, major in what u want, do the premed requirements, go to med school and then specialize in orthopedic surgery. It'll be more clear when u get older, just focus on doing as best u can right now and getting into a good college.

the girl was a slut yes...but kobe was unfaithful lol.....anyways dude just go to college first because you might even change your mind about med school...there is no point in thinking about this now, it's a waste of time. First see you if you are med school material.

If you are particularly interested in doing sports medicine, major in athletic training if your school has it. If there is no specific athletic training major, then nutrition and fitness sort of majors will work. Try getting asking around at you colleges athletic department to see what is needed to be a student trainer. It won't be an easy job, as you'll be very busy, but the background will be helpful.

From there, you can go to med school. Finish med school and enter into either Internal Med, Pediatrics, or Ortho. Complete the residency and apply for fellowships at that point in sports med. To specifically get involved with a professional team, you'll need to find a fellowship program that has those connections. They will probably be extremely extremely competitive. However, if you are willing to live in a college town (not at all a bad thing for some people), or simply volunteer your time to local school districts, just having completed a fellowship and working for the right practice can make this a more likely possibility.
