How to Bring Up Critical Reading

Ok, so naturally reading was never my thing. In math i was able to get 800s since the first time i took the sat. Recently, I was able to improve my essay skills so i can consistently get 12s. and the MC portion of writing, i get usually -1, or -2 which, depending on the curve, can be 780+. However, CRITICAL READING WILL NOT GO UP. For vocab ive done several vocabulary lists and now only get 1 or 2 sentence completion wrong at most, For the passages, i use noiteraprep method and usualy get between, 4-7 wrong. In the end my score fluctuates between 680-720. What i realized is that alot of mistakes results from me doubting my first answer. I did the blue book and most administered tests i found online. Any other way to help me raise my score. Please dont say reading as its too late to starts reading to help my sat score. My june sat scores was 670 but it may have been from luck but thank you!

I don’t think it is ever too late to start reading and reading and using a dictionary when you don’t know a word. If you have practice books with reading sections, I think I would go through each item and then review to yourself what each passage meant. Look at the answers and decide which is the right answer and why and which are wrong answers and why? How well do you skim text? Pick out something in a correct answer and find the information as quickly as you can. Lots of people find sub-vocalizing helpful when reading.I know it’s late to start reading, but reading proficiently starts bringing dividends immediately. Finally, don’t leave the house without something to read. The more you read the faster reading improves.
