How to Buy Textbooks and Save Money

Thus was something that I struggled with when I first got to campus. Fall semester freshman year, I spent over $400 on books - insane, I know. I smartened up and started doing my research and found other great places to buy textbooks. Check out this www.missiontuition.com article on where college students can find cheap books (http://www.missiontuition.com/smart-college-students-buy-textbooks-cheap/). Good luck gearing up this semester!

Thanks robot!

Another great cost-comparison website to check is:
gettextbooks.com

www.bigwords.com

Half.com and Amazon market.com I saved a bundle.

I'm kind of annoyed with my school because I don't even find out what classes I'm in until orientation.
I'm hoping I still have time to order discounted books.

what you do is you go to your school bookstore buy the brand new book to do homework for the first week. Then go online and order the cheap ones on amazon or half.com By the time your book arrived, return the "brand new" book from the bookstore and get full refund (before certain date).

I agree with most of the posts above.

And..you can also buy second hand books from others kids in your college.

chaoses' strategy works really well when your school will let you charge books to your student account. You can get the book, and not have to pay for it if you return it before the bill is due.

all i did was borrow old books from friends so I didn't have to spend money on textbooks.

Why don't you just buy from those sources above in advance instead?

Because the other person said they don't know what classes they have yet and so they don't know what books to order yet.

by the way, don't forget to sell your textbook after the semester.
if your book is in good condition, you can get a lot of money back.

because you don't know if you need them. You might walk in class and the professor say "these books are nice, but they are optional" then you can't return.

also, the way my school is, some professor lists a bunch of textbooks on the syllabus just for fun, you will not know exactly what to buy unless you come to class the first day.

used books.

sometimes used books have notes in them =) weeee

the notes can be useful sometimes
