Hi, I’m in my second year of CSU. I’m barely finishing my fall semester but would like to transfer to a CC. The courses stress me out, I still have no idea what to do, and being a part time student will still be too expensive for me.
Id like to know the process on how to transfer to a CC. How do I transfer my credits? Who do I contact? Do I need permission from my school to leave or something similar to that?
Which CC do you plan to apply? Contact admissions there and they can guide you through the steps for applying for transfer. If you are receiving FA at your current CSU, you need to transfer those funds to the CC. You also need to formally withdraw from your current CSU, so get in touch with registrar and your advisor for the proper forms.
Not sure what you are trying to accomplish - most CC students at your stage are looking to transfer to a CSU. One big reason is that there are no upper division courses at CCs, so, you run out of classes to take. If your objective is to earn a degree that’s offered by your CSU, staying put is probably your best course. The courses are no less stressful at a CC.
What is your objective?
I understand that going to a CC would be considered going backwards.
But as I mentioned before, I don’t know what I want to do. I’ve taken surveys, quizzes on what I should be and have answered the “what are you interests?” countless times. I have no idea what I want to do career wise. But that means I am also open to anything. Because I don’t know, I want to take some time experimenting with jobs. I want to go a slow pace because I don’t want to invest my money on the wrong major/degree. Going part time in a CSU is still expensive. I rather just do part time in a CC.
Look - this stuff doesn’t need to light you up - it needs to get you a job and not make you miserable. Most people don’t have a ‘passion’ that can turn into a living. I’d encourage you to study something like business - there are lots of very different focus areas, ranging from Accounting to Marketing. Pick one and go for it. No matter what you do in life, you will need many of the skills you’ll pick up on the way.
Good luck
