How to choose Freshman Classes ?

Well, I understand that there is Department requirements, current school(1-6) requirements, and also Graduation requirements. But how does a incoming freshman go about and decide which ones to take and at what sequence? I guess that our online academic advising should clear that up for me.. or not?
Any comment and information would be helpful....Thanks.

i think the counselors give you recommended list of what you should take. but i'm not too sure either.

they will give you a recommended list, as ihavenolife has said. if you have any questions, you ask them online and they will get back to you promptly (being 1-2 days). usually, freshmen take a writing class, math, chem and a GE (for the science majors) or writing, major class, GE, GE (for others). As for GEs, you look down the list and decide what interests you and you sign up for it. Simple as that.

So for the first quarter (or is it the entire year?) most freshmen typically go without taking any classes related to their majors?

well for the science majors, math and chem are required for the major, so they are actually classes related to the major. engineering majors do something different. i'm not too sure about that. all other majors, i advise to take 1-2 classes in their major. if you're talking about not being able to take bio first quarter, it's because most don't take bio first quarter anyway because of a chem prerequisite, or physics because of a math prereq. circumstances differ. check your college's 4-year plans. most of them have it. otherwise, just wait until next week or so when they release class advising stuff.

wandering_mystic, in my first year nearly half (6) of my classes were engineering courses.
