How to complete CSS profile if I am independent?

I am officially employed and living on my own, without my parents' funding. Do I still have to submit all family members' salaries, etc? Where can I find info on this situation?

Unless you are 24, a veteran or member of military, or have a dependent (married or child), you do need to include your family info.

Your independent status for FAFSA is listed below. I believe most Profile schools are even more stringent.

Papyrus, what makes you think you are independent for financial aid purposes. You have to be able to answer yes to one of the following to be considered independent for financial aid: over age 24, married, have a dependent child you support, were a ward of the state or in guardianship (by someone other than parents) prior to age 18, an armed services veteran, on orphan. Are you any of these things? If not, you are dependent for financial aid purposes. These questions appear on the FAFSA. You have to answer yes to one of them to be considered independent for financial aid purposes. Note…working and supporting yourself is NOT one of the criteria.

Thank you, guys. Exactly what I was looking for.

I just thought so because I have not been living with them for a long time, so reporting their financial situation seemed kind of irrelevant to me. Thanks again.
