How to contact colleges

Okay, so I'm planning on making a D. C. and cheaseapke bay area tour for colleges including American U, George Wash. Georgetown, and a few schools in Maryland. My question is when I contact colleges about visiting, how do I approach them to show that I am interested in the college,

It seems obvious, but should I also provide my school, address, and more information like that, or would my name simply suffice? I'm asking because I need to contact AU and Georgetown to see if they do campus visits even during the first week of classes since that week there is the only time I can visit.

Rather long but does that make sense? Any other advice?

Frequently you can go through their web site to schedule a tour and an interview. Then they have your contact information.

Most colleges have a Visit Card you can fill out at the Admissions office. When we visited three years ago, Georgetown had a policy of not letting visitors fill out the visit card unless they also attended a campus tour. Perhaps that’s changed. And unless the GWU admissions office has moved, it’s a little hard to find. You may have to ask. Enjoy your campus visits!
