How to convince parents that a degree in musical theatre will be worth it?

I know a lot of you out there have very supportive parents when it comes to pursuing the MT career, which is fantastic, but I know there are some (like me) that aren't in that situation.
I was wondering if anyone might be able to give me some advice on how to convince them or tell me their thoughts on what they might've done to pursue this career.
I know with 100% of my being that this is what I want to do, and I won't settle for less. But it's hard to make them realize that this is more of a career choice than just something I do after school everyday.
Ofcourse I have alternatives, like getting a job and saving up as much as I can to finance college myself, but that knocks out a lot of good schools I might be interested in that have a higher tuition.
Thanks, I'd appreciate any input.

I’ve posted this before. This site is old, but the sentiments are correct. It likely won’t convince parents who are reticent, but it will help open the discussions. [What Theatre Majors Learn.
I suggest that your parents read through some of the above threads and come up with their questions/concerns. They can post them here to get feedback. They can also PM some of the parents who post here who have children who are currently pursuing their degrees or who have graduated and are working. I am always happy to talk to other parents, as I know others on here are as well.
