How to do well in AP Computer Science A?

I have a new teacher in AP Comp Sci and they are totally incompetent. For example, whenever I ask a problem, they take 20 minutes to Google it up and answer it for me but make it seem more confusing. It’s so frustrating!

Additionally, ngl I literally took Comp Sci because everyone said it was an easy 100, but now I have a 86 in that class, my worst class by far! Funny thing called karma haha…

Anyway, I am really mad because the first semester is over and my GPA dropped over a point- it’s just over a 96. I have either 100s or 95-96s in my other classes but this grade is killing me…

Any advice on how I should self-study as my teacher is new at Comp Sci and their incompetence is so frustrating!

Get Barrons; do coding bat, and get a lot of practice.

I have the same problem my teacher is new so I’ve been teaching myself and I had a 97 last quarter and a 100 currently. I don’t know how it works at your school so if I have more details I can try to help.

Unfortunately it is very hard for schools to recruit good CS teachers. On the other hand, if you can self teach yourself the material you are in a good position heading into college.
