Hello! I will be majoring in forensic science next year. This degree requires a lot of chemistry. Unfortunately, my Highschool chemistry teacher was less than helpful, and even though I passed the class with an A, I know basically nothing about chemistry. This worries me. How can I do well in college chem without a good background? Thank you.
My son says the key to doing well is studying a lot! I tried to tie him down a little more than that. He said to make sure you go to all office hours, recitations (if your school has them), and ask as many questions as you can. His school had reviews with a TA in small groups and those helped. He watched on-line videos, great courses and you-tube and found a study partner to do homework with. He read each chapter, read through his notes several times and did practice questions over and over. This semester he is in a frat and has also done the old tests from their test bank several times. He has a 99 in chem 2 right now! Good luck! He did not have AP chem and had done well in pre-AP(honors) chem but hardly remembered it!
Thank you so much!
