I currently have Gruber's Complete SAT Study Guide (11th edition I think) and I just ordered Dr. Chung's Math Workbook yesterday.

I found this thread about this person increasing his score 300 points in 10 days. One thing I noticed he put down in his guide is to study using the Gruber's Math Sections... for about 3 hours. I looked at Gruber's Math sections and tips and it had about the same number of pages as a regular bible (you get my point). So if anyone say that popular thread and tried it out, do you know if that guy was talking about some other Gruber's math sections? Cuz I just can't believe he went through all that in 3 hours...

And also, do you have any suggestions on how to effectively attack the SAT Math Sections? I go the library Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays to study for about 7 hours. During that time I also have to study for my SAT Academy homework which takes me approximately three hours to finish each day. So how can I spend my time wisely to improve my score from a 620 to above a 760?

I will tell you what i see all around in the Gruber’s vs Chung’s threads.

Grubers: Read, understand how to do problems (since there is more than 1 way), do the practice questions and tests. Gruber’s is for people who score in the 500s to 650ish. Its like Basic - Medium. I have it since I’m not terrific at math (just high 500s)

Chungs: Basically like Gruber’s but much tougher because it is usually for people who score high 600s - onward. Its basically Advanced - Expert level. I personally haven’t used it, but from what i have heard its good for pros.

And for using it, I’d devote a a few hours, not 7 (way too much!) and go through the parts you are not so sure about. If you are good at the simple algebra parts, but probability gets you, then work on that. Gruber’s offers a crapload of each type of problem. THEN! do the practice tests in there to see how well you did, and then when you feel ready jus shoot for the BB.

And the 3 hours thing (i know the thread youre referring to), he definitely skimmed over it and only did a minimum amount of problems. There’s really no way to do it all in 3 hours unless youre part cyborg or stephen hawking…oh wait…

@Hossain - basically what herozero1234 said. if you score in the 500’s to low 600’s, go with grubers. you will find a lot of it you are already comfortable with. there are diagnostic tests for almost every type of SAT problem you can think of, so do those and if you get them all right or just one or two wrong, just move on until you come to a section that you need help with, then just over the explanations and practice problems it offers. then do the practice tests at the end of the book and then try to move on to official tests like in the BB and see how you do.
