How to get a 2400 in one week

Hi guys! I got a 2400 on the December 2015 SAT on my first try, and I want to share some tips.
I missed one question in CR, 0 in math, and 2 in writing (whoops). I still managed to get an 800 in writing even with an 11 on the essay.
The regimen: (per day for 5-7 days) memorize 50 vocab words. I recommend Direct Hits I and II (I got that book literally 4 days before the SAT and almost all of the words in the book showed up.) Take a practice math section, do the writing sentence error, and take a practice reading. Also write an essay.

CR: the answers to the questions are IN THE PASSAGE. Don’t overthink, only refer to the passage. for sentence completion cover up the answer choices and fill in the blanks with your own words. Then look at the answers for synonyms.
Math: BE VERY careful. I checked my work and found 4 errors.
Writing: Essay: write very small and write as much as possible. Throw in as many vocab words as you can. Sentence error: know the grammar rules like subject verb etc.
If I can do it, you can do it. Don’t fret over your practice test scores. I did very bad on all my practice tests (below 2200). Also the night before the sat, chill and do something you like.

Thanks for this advice! I’m retaking the SAT this month, but I really won’t have much time to study. I have mid-terms the whole week right before, so I’ll have to put a lot of time into studying for those… Is it really that bad to study the night before? Because I’ll definitely have to…

Also, I do great on the writing questions, but I score poorly on the essay for some reason. My scores have been an 8 and a 9… My friend got a 10 and she put a counterclaim. Did you do that to get an 11?

@sat225 i got a 10 on my essay and i didn’t have a counterargument. it’s not necessary to score well on the SAT

You must be really smart  Could you tell me which prep book you used?have u tried barron’s? And also,i would appreciate it if u threw a couple more writing and cr tips

After the 23-Jan SAT test date, memorizing obscure words will be moot. 23-Jan is the last sitting of the “old” SAT.

I didnt use a counterargument, but i “understood the other view” in my intro and conclusion paragraphs.

@ethiololita6 i used the blue book (did almost the whole thing in a week lol) and barrons 2400 (writing section only)

@ethiololita6 CR tips: read the passage pretty fast. I always finish in around 15 minutes and have 10 minutes to re-read/ check my work. W tips: Tbh i didn’t do so well in the sentence error so i should be talking, but in the sentence improvement section just use your ear

@easygoing1234, I am having trouble with passage improvement questions. I was thinking maybe I should tackle that part first then do sent. Imp. and sent. error.what do you think?

@easygoing1234 , you only studied the blue book for a week and you scored 2400? Thats ridiculous! Ok fine, you must’ve atleast taken SAT classes or something.

@ethiololita6 It is very well possible to score 2400 without a test prep class. There just are students like @easygoing1234 who can excel at the SAT. Many of the students from test prep classes usually have lots of trouble on the SAT, so test prep centers only allow them to step up from the basics. Other then that, your own effort requires you to excel the SAT. Trust me I have wasted $1000 on test prep classes in order to raise my 2100 to 2300+, and didn’t help me one bit.

@easygoing1234 Do you have any tips for the essay?! trying to get at least a 10
Do you have any examples you could PM me?

@smileydinosaur write rly rly rly small and just fill up the whole thing. Use to kill a mockingbird

@easygoing1234
