I’m taking the test on the June 10th date.
Right now, my diagnostics are:
English: 34
Math: 31
Science: 35
Reading: 35
I’m not trying to push myself to get a perfect 36 because I value my sanity and because any score past 34 is basically gravy. However, I’m rather worried with my Math score. Because I want at least a 34, I’m aiming for a 35 composite score for my practice tests. Outside of practice tests, I haven’t prepared for any other subject except Math, as I figure after a certain point, there’s really nothing you can do to improve your English, Science and Reading scores. However, Math is vastly different. The main problem area of mine is Trig functions, but I could stand to improve in all areas. Has anyone here scored a 36 on their Math section? Are there any methods you can take to hone in on your problem areas? Test taking strategies? Any suggestions or input would be appreciated.
Honestly, the best advice I’ve heard is “check your work.” ACT math is not that advanced, but you can’t make silly mistakes. (My daughter got a 36 in mat on the ACT, when she had barely started trig/precalc as a junior in high school, and she’s not really that mathy.)
15 to 20 on act score increase ??? Any luck :((
I didn’t score a perfect 36 on the math section, but my advice to you would to review as many math sections as you can before test day, notice trends in the topics questions are asking and familiarize yourself with those topics. From my experience, the ACT asks questions on the same basic topics for each test in different ways. Once you understand the basics of each idea, you should be able to apply them to any question the ACT is asking.
