I am a high school sophomore now, but I want to do as much as I can to best prepare myself for my college apps. I have visited a few colleges in state (Stanford, UC Berkeley, USC, UCLA) and I have taken the PSAT and am getting ready for the SAT. Anything else that I could be doing to prep myself and make myself as attractive as possible to top universities? I have also been doing some volunteer work and have been trying to get a club position.

Stuff people on here seem to do all the time:

Summer programs/internships. Ideally prestigious ones.

Winning awards. Ideally prestigious ones.

AP classes and/or IB classes and/or dual enrollment.

Take the PSAT next year and get a score high enough to be considered for National Merit Something-or-Other.

Get to know teachers so they’ll write good recommendations.

Practice writing essays.

Develop some kind of passion so your extracurriculars aren’t all scattered. Don’t try to be well-rounded and random.
