How to get "resident" status for OOS-er's?

Hi, I'm an OOS-er recently accepted to U of Illinois. I understand that as an out-of-stater, I can eventually pay in-state tuition once I show that I am in the state of Illinois for the long-haul.

^Right. I'm not even sure what I mean either. I know there are generally several ways I can become a "resident" of Illinois, either by having my whole family move there (not happening) or staying for at least a year, and filing some forms in the meantime....

Basically I have no clue. Any current students from Out-of-state or anyone else who has experience/advice in obtaining residency status (and thus resident-level tuition) as an OUT-OF-STATER?

I’m pretty sure the only way you can get residency yourself is if you live there for a year, but you can’t be going to school at the same time. And you also have to maintain a job.

Go here: [University of Illinois > University-Wide Student Programs > Residency Status Regulations](University of Illinois > University-Wide Student Programs > Residency Status Regulations)

^thx for your help. there might not be much i can do…sigh…

i know illinois has a lot of OOS students…can anyone here speak from experience?
