I'm an out of stater, my orientation date is in a week, and I was wondering what the best way to Ann Arbor from Detroit is?

Cab. 10 char

There is a shuttle to and from the airport. [University of Michigan Campus Information Centers :: Transportation](Find Your Way | Campus Information)

If theres no shuttle, take michigan flyer, its $15 if u prepay online, it takes to 4 point by sheraton, then you can either
- Take a cab
- Take the AATA bus
to get to UM.

Or you can just take a cab directly from the airport to UM, but it’s kinda pricy though. Ive heard someone paying like 60 bucks to get from DTW to UM, so plan accordingly.

I recommend the Michigan Flyer. It’s pretty cheap for a round trip, and there’s a bus from where you’re dropped off to Central Campus (AATA #36). The bus is free if you already have a MCard (which you will on the way back after orientation). Or you can cab it.

In case you are a city dweller, you should understand that when you get to the drop off point, you won’t be able to hale a cab - you’ll have to go into the hotel and call one. There are rarely cabs around when you need one out here in the hinterlands. Of course, if you take the pricey cab directly from the airport, there will be cabs readily available there.

you can get a shuttle or cab for around $40… thats what i paid when i didn’t have enough time to get to the flyer. google it…

BTW, the Michigan Flyer drops off at the Sheraton. The orientation is usually held directly across the street at a different hotel, which runs a shuttle up to UM.
So the Flyer may be the cheapest date, because there’s a good chance you’ll be staying directly across the street.

K- what orientation is held in a hotel? I assumed the OP was talking about his freshman orientation.
