How to handle prejudice/racism in HS?

JW because a lot of kids in my school get bullied because of their race or the way they act. How would you guys handle this?(no fighting)

…In all honesty, all I can say is that they have to learn to ignore it.

I am only one out of the two (and the other is my brother–go figure) Asian in the entire high school. Keep in mind that I do also go to a small private school. (crammed from Pre-k through 12th grade!) I have to say, that it is hard being the only Asian in my class.
I have dealt with racism (even indirectly towards myself) at my school, and I am just SO glad that this is my senior year. I know I will never be ever going back to that school again. ('cept for my brother’s graduation probably–but that’s a good 3 years or so.)

Even though I do not get bullied, I still get very sensitive and even “offended” whenever students at my school talk down upon any race (especially black people–they seem to be racist against them a lot–Pretty much 99% of the students at my school are white). Most of their comments are actually full of ignorance, so I usually don’t say anything and try to ignore them.

If it is or becomes a serious, and I mean serious, issue they should seriously talk to their parents about it, and ultimately transfer schools.

Racism should NOT be taken lightly.

There’s definitely a lot of general ignorance and insensitivity at my school. People say ■■■■■■■ ■■■■■■■■ and gay/homo in a joking derogatory way which I think proves their stupidity and lack of vocabulary.
Yeah, the majority of students are upper middle class white girls.

Racism and prejudice are found everywhere, and HS is definitely not a place to count out in that regard. Though I’ve never really experienced bullying via race, or have ever really seen one, I’d say the best thing to do is to ignore them. Generally the people that bully someone because of their race have absolutely nothing better to do and probably live a horrible life themselves. But I’d say bullying has more to do with “social hierarchy” in HS and the power of collectivism. Chances are, you will almost NEVER see just 1 person bully another person in like the hallway or somewhere secluded or what not. In general, you’ll see a group of people making fun of that person, and it just comes with this whole mentality of being in a group empowers you. Your friends are here, you want to feel racist, they want to feel racist…HEY! Let’s make fun of a kid whose race is rare and unique! It doesn’t always have to be a unique race though. Had an incident where a group of mexicans were just calling out slangs and derogatory terms at me as I was walking down the hallway past their lunch table. I’m like WTH did I ever do to you? It ****es me off whenever I think about it, but then I just calm myself by telling myself that pass a decade or two, Imma be in a position 100x better than the one they will be in.

Punch him in the face.
