Some schools understand and value IB curriculum more than others, does anyone know how to identify those schools? Thoughts on how to find them?
Colleges post how much credit they offer to AP and IB exams. If they have an IB list, they obviously know what to do with it. But there are 100s if not 1000s of IB schools in this country. It’s not a new thing. Glad you’re in it and please do well (my kiddo did) – but it’s not a magic key to amaze colleges.
Most colleges appreciate the IB program and respect its rigor. They always want students who have taken the “Most Demanding Available” courseload, which is often the IB if offered. The IB organization posted statistics a number of years ago showing a significantly higher admission rate than non-IB applicants. I doubt that any college is unaware of the IB program, and they will weight your grades accordingly.
“Value the IB diploma”…do you mean for admissions purposes or merit aid?
Both
On the ibo.org page you can get a spreadsheet of the IB Policies of many universities:

Check out SUNY Binghamton as far as getting IB credits. My daughter graduated 1.5 years early because of her IB credits and some summer credits.
“Students in the International Baccalaureate Diploma Program may receive up to 32 credits. To receive the full 32 credits, the following conditions must be met:
The IB Diploma must be completed with a score of 30 or more points; and
The student must complete at least three Higher Level exams with a score of 5 or higher.
Diploma holders who meet these conditions receive credit for their individual exam scores plus additional liberal arts elective credit to total 32 credits.”

Isn’t the IB diploma issued like in May or June for American students? If so, that won’t be in play for US college admissions.
I know univ of Rochester values the rigor of taking the IB diploma track. That was evident in my son’s interview and when the admissions rep came to our city.
But in terms of credits, you really won’t know until after you’ve committed to a school how your scores will help you as they aren’t given out until June.
Florida Colleges seem to really like IB.
