Colleges Accepting IB diploma

Hi! I am a sophomore but may be taking IB disploma next year. I can’t find any information on what colleges take this kind of credit (I know that AP is more often accepted because many high schools don’t have IB opportunity) so if anyone can put a link or just say some colleges that do accept IB diploma that would be amazing! Thank you!

Most colleges give credit for IB, just like AP, but many only give credit for HL classes. You would get no credit for SL- maybe an exception would be foreign language.

Florida schools are very friendly with IB and will give credit for IB SL- including math studies. Just go to colleges you are interested in and search IB Credit in their search bar.

Thank you so much for the info @jeneric I really appreciate it! I’m actually doing that right now and seeing how much credit schools I’m interested in give for IB Diploma

The University of California gives some credit, but it’s not clear how much. Each campus will have a page somewhere that discusses it, there may be special departmental rules. We were kinda hoping to skip freshman year, but it does not look likely.

They give more than just the HL credits. My daughter who had an IB diploma picked SUNY Bing because of the IB credits.

"Students in the International Baccalaureate Diploma Program may receive up to 32 credits. To receive the full 32 credits, the following conditions must be met:

The IB Diploma must be completed with a score of 30 or more points; and
The student must complete at least three Higher Level exams with a score of 5 or higher.
Diploma holders who meet these conditions receive credit for their individual exam scores plus additional liberal arts elective credit to total 32 credits."

Each and every school is different.

Of the schools my DD applied to - some use IB credit only at the end of the 4 years if some requirement is missing, some allow it to be used to get into higher levels of required classes, some allow it only against non-major classes, etc. You will have to do extensive research into the schools you are looking at.
