How to improve ACT Score?

(FIRST TIME TAKING THE ACT, WITH ZERO PREP.) Well today, I got my ACT scores back and I ended up with a CS of 25. I got a 29 in Science, 23 in Reading and English. A 8 on my essay, on a scale of 12. There are a lot of people who got solid 30's the first time, there are some that got 35's as well. I was wondering is their a trick or something. I need help with Reading and English specifically. I took the SAT jumped from a 1100 (first time I took it no prep.) to a 1770 (the second time I took it).

I need all the help I can. Please tell me what you did, and any study tips. I will take maybe another 2 times.

I think a prep class could benefit you in addition to buying the “REAL” ACT prep book (which contains 5 real tests). The prep classes would cover content as well as test taking tips and timing strategies - all of which are important. My kids would not have done as well without that prep and practice. If you can’t take a class, read through the prep books which contain information about the test and have explanations for the questions. There are also online classes and check out the ACT.org site too. Good luck!.
