How to improve for SAT

Hi Everyone,

I took the March SAT (my first SAT)and only got a 2070. I'm very disappointed because I spent 3 months preparing almost everyday for it. I did 13 practice tests and toward the end, i was getting around 2200-2250 on them. When I took the SAT, I was pretty sick, but I came out of the testing room thinking that I did pretty good. I thought I would definitely get a 2200+, but apparently not.
CR:640(same as my psat)
Math:780 (only missed 1, the curved sucked :( )
Writing:650, 8 on essay(same as psat)

I really don't think I should've gotten such low scores on CR and writing. It just seems impossible that I can't even increase a mere 10 points from my psat score.

I have a dilemma of when to take the SAT again. I also need to take the SAT II. I just need to make sure that when I take it this time, I get at least a 2250+. I don't really know how to improve anymore, because I am sick and tired of those practice tests. I did pretty bad on vocabs, but should've done way better on the reading analysis part. Also, should I take it in june or october. I will be doing early admission, but probably for only one college because of binding action.

thank you

Screw you for complaining about the math curve. I omitted 1 question in January and got a 760.

For writing, study the grammar rules before you practice. For CR, make sure you can support your answers with excerpts from the text and for vocab, use the process of elimination when you don’t know the words’ definitions.

WHAT I DID: (680CR/780M/790W for a 2250C)
MATH: practice problems. literally underline what you have to find. A lot of the time you find x when you need to find 2x or x+10. The ETS loves that. It’s cumbersome at first, but it’s what gets you to the near 800 range.
WRITING MC: memorized a list of idioms and used common logic. ended up with one wrong on mc.
ESSAY: go through the previous threads about writing a “12 essay in 10 days” people have posted several different generic intros and conclusions. try to formulate one of your own based on those. Oh, and PRACTICE. for your literary sources, make sure you memorize the following for atleast 8 books: title, author, publication year, publication place, and a once sentence plot summary.
CRITICAL READING: honestly, reading Silverturtle’s guide boosted my score a good 100 points. vocab: memorize the sparknotes top 250 and DH for a perfect(:
goodluck!
