How to Improve SAT Math Score

So I am in desperate need of help on the math section of the SAT. I’ve been prepping with a tutor for months and have been studying really hard, but my score on the December test was still really low (520). Math has never been my strongest point and I’m not looking for a 700 or anything, but I really need at least a 580, hopefully a 600. I’ve done all the blueblook tests and I have the Barron’s book but it doesn’t seem to be helping (I find the instructions to be a bit confusing). I’m looking for a simple, comprehensive guide. I’ve heard Dr. Chung’s is too challenging and is mainly for people looking to score really high, but then again I’m not positive if that’s the case. Any tips would be greatly appreciated as my math score is decreasing my overall composite score significantly. If there are any good prep books that could get me in the 600s, that would be amazing! I just need the book to be simple and understand because math doesn’t come easily to me.

Thanks so much!

Take a look at “Up your Score, the Underground Guide to the SAT.”

It’s written by 4 kids who got perfect scores. It’s all strategy, no practice tests.

I will admit that they try way too hard to fit in pop culture references. But the test taking strategies are solid.

Beyond that, when you take a practice test in the Barrons book, go to the end of the test-- there should be a page that tracks which numbers correspond to which topic. Keep careful track of which topics are throwing you off. Omit them until you learn to handle them.
