I took my first ACT in February with little preparation and got a 31 (E: 35, R:36, M:23, S:29) which I was fairly proud of but I really need at least a 33 to look competitive for the schools I’m applying to. As you can see, math and science are definitely not my strong suits and I’ve been having a really difficult time trying to improve them. I haven’t worked on my science that much yet but I seem to be stuck in the 26-28 range with most of the math practice tests I take. I think a large part of my difficulties come from the timing. Any tips, strategies, resources, etc. for these two sections would be greatly appreciated!
Take a practice SAT. My kid had a similarly lopsided ACT, with time the main issue, and her practice SAT was much more balanced.
There ACT pacing watch called test buddy that we found helpful with getting the timing right. You can buy it on Amazon for 34.99. Do the practice tests using it and see if that works.
