How to know I made the right college choice

Heyoo so I need some help! Going to a 4 yr university has always been my dream/ plan! And the university of Oklahoma has always been my dream school. Well I got in and I’m set to go in like 4 days. But the only thing I can think about is the crazy amount of money I have to spend that I don’t have. And the inconvenience it is to my parents because it’s 6 hours away. And I really struggle with if its the best choice for me. I absolutely loved the campus and the people I met when i visited, I’m just not 100% sure if it’s the best choice. And how am I even supposed to know

Are you in-state or OOS?

OOS

I mean, there’s not really any way to know. But I think once you get there, you’ll be more able to judge if what you’re getting is worth the price you’re paying. If you make it through the first semester and you still feel overwhelmed over the debt you’re accruing, then it might be time to start thinking about transferring.

“But the only thing I can think about is the crazy amount of money I have to spend that I don’t have.”

What exactly do you mean by this?

Are you and your parents borrowing more money than the standard student loan limit of $5,500 for your freshman year?

If you are, and you had other options that wouldn’t leave you with that kind of extra debt, it is OK to tell this university that you won’t be studying there after all, and take a semester (or two) off while you get yourself into a less expensive place. Remember that the best merit-based aid is given to freshmen applicants. In most cases, once you’ve taken a semester of classes, you would have to apply as a transfer if you want to change where you study.
