What specifically do you guys recommend for learning more about Wall street/ trading/ banking - about the general culture, work involved, education, etc?

Beginner level stuff: Market Wizards, The New Market Wizards, Alchemy of Finance, Monkey Business, Reminiscences of a Stock Operator, When Genius Failed.

More advanced stuff include Options, Futures, and Other Derivatives (Hull), Paul Wilmott Introduces Quantitative Finance (wilmott).

Thanks a lot. Btw...is there anything besides reading that can be done to learn? Is there any like trading programs out there? Also...what are the best business newspapers and magazines?

Loads of stuff. I dont understand what you mean by trading programs? Charting programs? Screens? Automation? Best business newspaper/magazines: Financial Times, Wall Street Journal, Economist, and I also read a bunch of other daily news wires like at www.fxstreet.com, i also get free subscription to Dow Jones Newswire, finance.yahoo.com, marketwatch, futures.fxstreet.com. I read these pretty much daily.

Mahras when did you start exploring this financial stuff?

Ummm when I was about 12 or so. 16 and a half now so I guess 3.5 years.
