How to overcome first bad grade?

Hey, so I am a freshman taking AP Human Geo. We recently had our first quiz (Rubenstein 10th edition key issues 1.1) which I got a 78 on (considered a low C in my state, ikr it's insane). Our teacher said that grades like these were normal on reading quizzes, and it meant that you were getting the content. I ended getting up the 78 because I ended up completely messing up the 2 questions on scale: I didn't know that large scale=cities and small scale=world. However the competitive, overachieving Indian nature of me is going insane right now. All of my friends got 87's and higher, and I am feeling really down because of that. How do I get over this, feeling pretty down right now?

Haha i’m indian and I know how you feel man! When I get a grade like that I go a bit haywire also, but things get better when you just study a bit harder and longer then you can do better on your next tests and quizzes. I’m a senior and I had the same experiences you did 3 years ago.

Thanks for your input bro, glad to see someone who was in my place haha. It was only a minor grade (30%) so I think I can pull it up with other quizzes and labs in the future and have an A first quarter. I just hate when I am the dunce on something, you know?

I know that exact feeling man, but yes you can go up to an A for the quarter if you do good on the next assignments I do the same thing.

Yeah man thx for the encouragement  It really helps

But hey, it will motivate you to do even better in that class!

Yes I guess it will

I’m not Indian but hopefully this will motivate you to do better rather than do worse.

I got a 46% on my first AP Physics b test :)). Ended up with a 97% average when all was said and done and got a 5 on the test.

Reading quizzes can be like that. I consistently failed or got Ds and Cs on APUSH reading quizzes but did really well on homework, tests, and essays, so I still ended up with a B+ average and sometimes got A-s in a couple quarters.
