Well..this isn't exactly an SAT test, but I'm super-nervous about my driving test [I live in California, by the way]. Any of the people on here who passed their driving test--any tips?

Please tell me whether or not you had to parallel park?

Also, was it a really horrible experience or not too bad?

It's really a very short test; you'll probably be done before you even know it. Just pay attention to what you're doing (remember to signal, look over your shoulder when you turn, come to complete stops, etc... everything you learned in Driver's Ed and Driver's Training). It's expected that you'll be nervous, but if you're confident in your driving skills then that will help you to remain calmer and avoid making mistakes. Good luck! =D

just move your head all the time, and make it really drastic so that the tester can see your head moving not just your eyes to check directions and blind spots at intersections.... plus it is short, youhope in th ecar...show yo ucan do the arm mvoements, and then drive for like 10-15 minutes and you are done.

Yeah it's really easy, I finished my test with only one error. :)

Just make sure you are very careful about speed limits, 5 miles over or under the speed limit will kill you. Also, remember that backing up the vehicle is a test of accuracy, not speed, so you can go as slowly as you want to with that.

In Georgia they make you parallel park, back in park, regular park, and then drive around for 15 minutes. Plus speed stops, straight back ups, etc. Its really subjective too, I failed my first time from a lady who had failed everyone that day.

Good luck with your test. I can't believe you don't have to parallel park in California for your test. The only mistake I made was on the part where I had to back up 100 feet. The test lady said I looked forward too soon before I stopped. Are there any other states that you have to go in reverse 100 feet?

Some PA DMV centers require you to parallel park. That's part of the "road test," which can only be taken 6 months or more after you have passed the "knowledge test."

Northern VA driving knowledge tests are easy(Even easier in Spanish lol).
I took my driving test in the rain but it went well. Can't say the same for the other two people taking it with me. Both of them did a rollover right on red without stopping completely.

i took my CA driving test last month... mostly the speed limit was 25 mph, so dont go even near 25. i drove 22 the whole way and it went find. dont go too fast through the turns, thats what i got marked off on. i dont know what speed your supposed to go through the turns, but i was probably going 15 and got marked off. when you go through an intersection look left and then right. watch for pedestrians. wait about 5 seconds after turning on your directional before turning

The place I took mine had a course set up, which was good in a way, because there were no other cars, but confusing in a way too. I was never sure exactly what to do, since I had to imagine things. The lady would say, "ok, now pretend you are turning left and driving on a driveway." So, I'd signal, slow down, turn of the signal, and keep driving very slow, since driveways are usually not paved where I live. The lady told me I could speed up, lol. I did have to parellel park, which I am horrible at (still can't do it, and I've had my license for almost 2 years.) Luckily, I was driving my mom's car, which is a standard and has no power steering, and the woman felt sorry for me and told me what to do. "Boy, you're gonna get some muscles with that thing, aren't you? Ok, just turn the wheel real far to the left, back up a few feet...stop. Now turn the wheel all the way the other way...Most kids use automatics for the test..." Man, I felt lucky. I really am a good driver and I can do everything else perfectly--I've only needed to parallel park once ever though.

I'm terrible at parking. Actually, I've parked perfectly into straight spaces where there are no cars on either side (so in reality, I have no clue whether or not if I would crash into the cars if there were cars on either side) and it took me 2 times to back out (it was a corner spot, so there were parked cars sitting perpendicular to where I was parked). Anyone know if I have to show them I know how to park/back out properly in CA?
