Here’s how to deal with too many great college acceptances. https://insights.collegeconfidential.com/how-to-choose-college
Of the numbered points in the linked article, #2 (financial aid and cost) should be #1 for most, since cost is a big concern for most students, and even more so for those whose parents are losing income and/or savings/investments now. #1 (visit again) may be irrelevant to many colleges this year, due to shutdown of in-person instruction, so a visit may just involve walking around mostly empty buildings.
This. I can’t tell you how many times I’ve read posts from high school seniors in active warfare with their parents over two schools that are so similar to each other that one wonders what could possibly be worth all that angst. I think in many cases it is not only a matter of who holds the purse strings but also a matter of whose Subaru is going to display the bumper sticker. ![]()
3 Oh, the indecision! This for our oldest daughter came down to the final two schools that were similar, but alas different. The problem wasn't choosing the best school for her because intuitively she knew which one to choose, but it was turning down the other. This was her greatest difficulty. Saying thanks, but no thanks to a really fine school was hard on her. I finally had to say to her, "These are problems of abundance and it's okay to say no to a really great school for another really great school." If only it was always this kind of problem our kids faced :)
My son is undecided on where he wants to go. I think he is not sure because he is not sure what areas of study he wants to pursue or what his major might be ? He is torn between Davidson College and Babson College. Babson is a business school of course and he is not sure if that is the wrong path to take since he is not sure what he wants to do ? Does anyone have any advice? I know there are many different paths that you can take in business etc.
