So far I have been admitted to University of San Diego (computer science major) and Syracuse LC smith school of engineering (same major). I cannot really decide, I need reasons for which one might be better. I do not have Financial aid info so pretend finances are not an issue. Sorry if this is in the wrong forum.

If you do not have Fin Aid info, then you cannot make a decision unless your family is ready, willing, and able to pay the full Cost of Attendance at both institutions. Sit down with your parents, compare the numbers, and find out whether or not either of these places is affordable for you.

Yes i understand but i was just asking for opinions about which school is better in terms of my major and overall college experience.

happymom is suggesting that if you can’t afford a school it doesn’t matter if it is better. Don’t fall in love with something you can’t have. Look at the numbers and see if your parents can even pay for either. If not, widen your search. Money plays a HUGE part in selection if you aren’t full pay.

alright moms

okay so i was also accepted by U of Maryland college park. I did get some aid from Syracuse, but since i live in MD the tuition for college park wont cost anywhere near Syracuse. I have been in MD all my life and just want to live and go to school elsewhere, plus i really like Syracuse. My parents keep telling me its up to me, but would i be selfish to pick Syracuse? or an idiot to turn down UMD?

“Selfish” depends on the actual cost (to your family) of you attending Syracuse. In other words, does it mean no vacations for the next four years? Your parents having to deplete their retirement savings? Selling the house and moving into a mobile home? You understand what I’m saying. If your family can easily afford either school, and your parents are telling you to do what you want . . . then do what you want. If it’s not so easy for them to afford, then you have a decision to make.

But you are still waiting to hear from San Diego, right? So that might change things . . .
