I really need to know how to prepare for the SAT! I've got plenty of time because I'm not going to take the test until after next year, which will be 2nd semester of my Sophomore year. I basically have 7 questions:

1) What are some good prep books out there ? I already have Barron's How to prepare for the SAT, although it's for 2006-07.

2) Do I have to go over all the materials on the prep books?

3) When's the best time to start preparing for SAT?
Ex) 2 months before the test date, 1 month before the test date ...

4) Should I study everyday, although it might conflict with my school works? And how many hours should I devote each day?

5) Can I choose which score I will send to the college or university?

6) Should I use more than one prep book, considering that I don't have any experience with SAT?

7) Could you give me additional advice, if any?

By the way, I'm aiming for 2300+.

1) Rocket Review is good, get BB definitely..I wouldn't trust Barron/Kaplan's practice test due to the inaccurate material. Get Gruber's for math.
2) Review the things you are not familiar with. If you have an 800 in Math, then you do not need to spend that much time on math. For me, I just skimmed over the CR and Writing since I was weaker in those compared to my math.
3) Prepare as early as possible so you can assimilate the knowledge gradually.
4) To get my score (2300+), I took a practice test/QAS everyday since it was summer. If you have time conflicts, I would recommend taking a practice test at the very least every week and spending time to review them.
5) If you are 2010+
6) This depends on your judgment of your own skill. Of course, diff prep books have diff strengths so I mixed and matched.
7) Writing is easiest to improve, then math, then CR.

Did you mean BB as Blue Book?

it's a good idea to look over some practice tests and see where you are score-wise.
If you're scoring pretty high already as a freshman, you don't need intensive prep.
However, if you find that you are struggling a lot (like say you're scoring high 400's or low 500's on sections), then you might need to prep a little. Remember, for the CR, try to read as much as you can and try your best in English classes so you're developing analytical skills while reading.

Hope that helps. I personally improved from 1860 (psat as sophomore) to 2350 (senior) so practice will really make it all work~!

^ That's an impressive success story! And yes, bb = blue book
