SAT prep?

Hey guys, I'm currently a junior in HS and if I could have some opinions on SAT preparation, that would be great. I'll be taking the SAT's for the first time in the spring, but I have not started preparing. When is a good time to start preparing, and how long before the test did you prepare? I do not read that much, only English books and Bailey because I am pressed for time. However, I do read Newsweek and keep a word journal, which is writing down every vocab word I'm not familiar with, and looking up the definition. Should I start getting back in the habit of reading? Also, should I buy any books, and if so, how many and specifically which kind? Any help is appreciated...

I'm currently a Sophomore in HS and I'm preparing for the SATs like crazy next year...I'm just a little ahead...

Reading is not a bad thing. Read when you're bored or whenever since it's great habit. If your serious for preparing I suggest starting out with the Blue Book.

After that: Know you're strengths and weaknesses.
Buy books that will help your knowledge more equal with your strengths while you raise them both(I hope that made enought sense  )

Seems like you're doing what you're supposed to with vocabulary. Keep it up :D

any more suggestions???

Before doing anything take a full length practice test and find out what is ur current standing. Tell ur score (if u take timed test that'd be awesome) and then only would I say how should u prep for SAT.
BOL! (best of luck lol!)

where can i find these practice tests? in a collegeboard sat prep book or another book?

you can find practice tests in pretty much any SAT book except maybe those that specialize in one section of the test. There are different companies that make these books: Collegeboard, Princeton Review, Kaplan, Barrons, McGraw Hill... etc. I personally like collegeboard and princeton review. Lots of ppl say Barrons is harder than the actual test which might be good but i dunno... collegeboard has a free practice test you can print out after you sign up (which is free too) :D Your counselor should also have like... a SAT prep booklet thing by collegeboard you can get. hope that helps.

You can get a free SAT test if you've taken the PSAT and gotten your results back. There is a code on the sheet with your scores on it! =D I haven't gotten a chance to print it out but I know there is one because I've seen it. All you need to do is register for an account and enter the code provided.
