Is it possible? I've been taking practice tests from the blue College Board book and repeatly gotten around 600 for CR. I want to raise it like 50-70 points for June 4th. I plan on rememorizing some more vocabulary words and doing more practice tests. Any other tips would be appreciated. Thanks.

just do a bunch.

i went from a 580 to shooting around the 680s. hoping for a 700-750 this June.

it worked for me.

read something before you leave for the test center. just pick up your history text book or something and read a few pages - it'll help wake you up for the test.

Nice for myopic. :)

I did Barron's verbal workout book in about the course of one week (4 days if you really count it), minus the analogies and went from 600 (first diag. in book) to 650 on the actual test...Haha.

Perhaps read a book? I'm reading Catch-22 by Joseph Heller right now; it's a very enjoyable book and long enough to read in about a week. It has a lot of SAT words and is of a reasonable reading level. If you read it without getting lost and learn some of the words, I figure that might put you in a good mindset for the test ;)

Making study cards also works and is an easy way to rack up those sentence completion points.

practicing actual tests is the best way to go

Read Wuthering Heights. It helps you immensely for the verbal portion of the SATs; that is, if you take the time to actually define the words you are not familiar with.

Just take many practice tests. I did it all the night before, and I went from 680 to 800 lol

are you serious tanonev??That's awesome....!!!!

Wow, I am officially impressed.

Are there any secrets to answering the critical reading questions? I do pretty well with sentence completion/vocaby stuff, and CR is definitely my worst area. Any tips would be appreciated.

Blank slate is always good. Don't over-analyze a question (it's really tempting when the CR passage is on a topic you know).

Once you've given an answer, don't second-guess yourself.

And, as always, practice, practice, practice. (My 800 was on SAT I, btw...so I'm just giving general advice)

I never really studied for critical reading. I got an 800 but I got done witht the sections about 10 minutes early

just do a bunch of practice tests, it works.

Tyler: i sometimes finish with 5 minutes left, but still like 3 wrongs ! =(

Critical reading is a killer...

apparently the college board thinks I don't have good "reasoning" skills based on my SATs... poopy

Red Bull + Propel (During the test, if possible).

This is just like a peripheral thing in addition to studying.

:)

propel? whats that?

i've found red bull to be pretty useless during tests. I tried it on my school finals.

red bull freaks me out.. i drank it once to stay up to study, and when i finally hit the sack, my heart was racing.. dunno if it was from the red bull, but if it was, how freaky. :|

Thats the point of red bull lol. If you drink it, make sure you arent planning on sleeping for the whole night because you wont be able to.
