Hi guys,
I took the february ACT and did worse than I thought I would. I got a 30 (E 34, M 30, R 29, S 28). I am taking it again in a few weeks and have done a little bit of preparing. My averaged score was a 30.25, so I was only 1 point away from a 31. My goal is to get the equivalent of over 2100, so a 32+. My question is how, besides getting an easy test or having a good day, can I raise my reading, science, and math scores up a little bit in order to achieve the 32. I am in Calculus AB as a Junior, so I'm good at math, but I feel as if the easier concepts have been lost in translation, so to speak. Ideally, I would keep my english score, raise my math up to a 33+ and hopefully my science, which I got a 34 on the practice test of, will raise a few points as well. Please let me know if you have any tips on how to jump those few pesky points.
Thanks

My daughter increase her practice score from 31 to 35 solely by doing many practice tests over several months of time.

Ok, I wasn’t looking for you to brag about your daughter’s score. I was asking for advice. I know that taking practice tests is the best way to increase score, but I’ve gotten a 34 on a practice test, and was asking about strategies for the test day that can help one get the questions right that separate a 30 from a 36.

There is no short cut other than doing more practice. I am not bragging but just telling you it is possible to boost your score from 30 through practice. Having one practice test of 34 does not mean you can achieve that score in a real test. But if you consistently getting ~34 in multiple practice test, it is telling you your expected score range. Note that your section scores from practice varied a lot, that means there are certain areas that you are relatively weak. You may be lucky to have a test with more questions you know the answer, but ACT is not a test of your luck. Just do as many practice tests as possible and study the questions that you’ve missed. Like it or not, that would be the only advise.
