So, that's basically my testing roster for Junior year. Too much?
I'm trying to make up for 0 AP classes pre-junior year.

The Plan

AP English Language (in regular class but Reading is my stength)
AP Physics (will be in this class)
AP US History (will be in this class too)
AP Environmental (self-study)
AP Macroeconomics (self-study)

SAT Math II in June (after Pre-Calc Honors)
SAT Literature in January (once again, this is my strength so I'm not too worried)
SAT Physics in June
SAT Spanish in June (after three years of solid & honors Spanish)
SAT World History in ? (self study, took reg World History fresh year but learned nothing)

And of course, I want to take the SAT at least three times, I'm thinking October, March and May.

Why so many Subject tests? And why the SAT 3 times in one year?

Look, most schools that require SAT II’s only require 2. There’s no reason to take 6. Just focus on perhaps 3 and make sure you score at least a 750 on each one. As for the SAT, I recommend not taking it 3 times in one year. I suggest taking it once in the beginning of the school year and once at the end. That way, you will have more time to study in between and colleges won’t think you’re a test-fanatic. As for the ACT, see how well you score on the SAT before you think about taking both. There’s no reason to unless you score low on the SAT and feel that you should be able to score higher on the ACT.

The AP’s for 2011 are already scheduled. Google the test dates and you will find them.

I go to a really competitive magnet school, and I’m just paranoid that colleges won’t get that when looking at my GPA or rank. So the SATs will say “Hey, no she actually is not a dummy!”

I’m really hesitant about taking the World History SAT so I may cut that. But my app is gonna have this whole, international relations/global health/ save the world angle. I thought World History would back that up, and show that I have some genuine interest in the field.

^ Agreed. Take three or four (most colleges only ask for two, some MIGHT ask for three). As for the actual SAT, take it once in the beginning of the year (October) and once almost at the end of the year (March or May). Also, you should try tying your AP courses with your SAT 2s, taking the appropriate SAT 2s to your AP courses will make it much easier. Like, AP English Language kind of ties with AP Literature (plus all the reading you do will helps), AP Physics ties with SAT Physics, AP US History ties with SAT US History (take that instead of World History), this way you’ll only have to study once for both tests. Other than that, you’ll just have to self-study for AP Environmental Science and AP Microeconomics.

Your AP’s are fine, but your subject tests are overzealous. 2 to 3 subject tests are, in almost all cases, the maximum you need. MAYBE 4, but that is stretching it, and perhaps like 2 schools in the US require that many.

If you are worried about not doing well on some tests, then simply pick out the 2 or 3 subjects that you are doing well at in school and take those subject tests.

You can reduce your workload by planning to take the SAT1 only once. Take practice tests at home from blue book, take SAT1 in Oct or Nov. (and the PSAT in Oct), then your have more time later in the school year to study for APs and SAT2s.

If you go to a really competitive magnet school, colleges will know that based on past experience and the school profile that your guidance counselor will supply with your transcript and recommendation.

Most colleges do not require any SAT subject tests. You might save yourself some time and worry by checking the Common Data Sets or websites of the colleges in which you’re interested to see whether they require them. My daughter is currently considering applying to six selective or highly selective schools; only one requires subject tests, and it requires only two. She will take three her senior year and send the best two.

take 2 sat IIs and make sure you get 800s. you can take later on but getting 800s is better than like 4 700s. it shows you know your stuff. you can’t take world history without taking ap world history because they are about the same stuff and it would be hell to self study. and btw instead of ap enviro try ap macro AND micro, two tests and looks better. Dont take the sat 3 times really… dont. they will see your three scores and it won’t be good if you fail, then get regular, and then get pretty good. study your ass off and get a good once during junior year. study like crazy and get an awesome score senior year because honestly with so much to do you can’t really study for sats.

You do not need 6 SAT II exams. The most any school requires is three (Georgetown). All other schools, HYPSM included, max out at 2.

5 AP exams are doable in one year, so long as you stay on top of your assignments - reading included (something very important for APUSH).

There shouldn’t really be a reason to take the SAT 3 times; simply prepare very well for it the first time. If your score is not within a range that you expect, then retake it once more.
