I'm a rising junior. English and history are my strong subjects. Here are my academic courses for the next two years:

Junior
AP Lang
AP US
AP calc ab
Spanish 3
Chem
SAT math prep

Senior
AP Stats
AP Physics
AP Lit
AP Euro or AP Pysch (not sure yet)
Spanish 4 (no AP offered)

I would like to take SAT 1 twice this spring and once in senior year, so I need to fit in at least 3 subject tests (required for school's honors program)

Which tests do you suggest I take, how many, when I should take them, and what scores should I report?

Based on the fact that you need 3 subject tests I would take APUSH, Math 2, & Lit (you would need to self study for the lit) in late spring (May/June). If you need to retest on any you can do that in Oct. and still make an EA/ED deadline. Drawbacks are if you are applying early and need the Oct test date to retest SAT 1s. Also, self studying Lit with an already heavy load. I suggested this as you stated you are strong here, and you needed a third subject test.

Your Sr APs will help with course rigor, and possibly testing out of Gen Ed’s, but they don’t help as far as subject tests for applications.

I should have asked…Did you take any APs last year? If so you could review the material and take the corresponding subject test this late fall/winter, getting one out of the way. If you score well you wouldn’t need to test in Lit.

Thanks for the response. I took AP World last year and got a 5. I should have taken the subject test in June but didn’t think of it until it was too late. The next test isn’t until december and I don’t really remember much info. Do you think it’s worth it?

One of my big pet peeves with most schools is they don’t advise students taking APs early in high school to consider the corresponding subject test in May/June while the information is fresh. If this is your oldest student, or your older students didn’t need subject tests for admissions it just isn’t usually on your radar that early. It should be noted in the syllabus and a reminder in March to sign up. Grrrr!!

Anyway, ideally you’ll have subject tests from different areas. If you brush up on WH that would add to APUSH you’re taking this spring. If you’d already taken it I’d tell you not to worry about it. Since you’re going to have to study something your better bet is Lit as long as its not going to over stress you and you think you can do well. I’d look online at the makeup of the test and try to get an idea. You can judge if self studying Lit or refreshing WH is going to be more difficult. If they are close, go with Lit for diversity of subjects. If you are really unsure you could call admissions, or the honors college, and ask them if they prefer subject tests from different areas when applying to honors.
