My plan is to self-study this summer for ap psych and ap human geo. I'm going to use barron's for both for sure at least. My current plan is to read the book once and then a second time with taking notes. Does anyone have any other good self study strategys.

My first tip to you would be not to start your self-studying for these AP exams until after the winter holiday. Wait until around the months prior to the exam because you won’t be needing THAT much time to self study for it. I would say you should have time to study for it during the school year. I was able to with a full AP schedule with tough teachers + dual-enrollment; if time is an issue then you just aren’t prioritizing it properly.

I think that you should start during the summer and finish going through the books before you start school. Then, put the stuff away until your long breaks (Thanksgiving, Winter, Spring) and do some review then. Especially if you have lots of homework+extracurriculars during the year, it’s safer to do most of the work during the summer, when you have more time. Why not take advantage of it and alleviate yourself from (or is it of?) some stress during the school year.

i agree with pi, as that is the best option if you want to work during the summer. however, with physc and human geo, you could just go with selfing the months before the exam.

I thought about that( studying after the winter holidays), but I’m taking a total of 7 ap exams and that time usually gets stressful and fast paced enough. So I’ll make my notebook now and just review from it alone to remember during the holidays. I’ll probably read the review book once also.

I took 6 this year, and 2 of them were self-studies of Psych and Human Geography.
You’ve already made the 1st step in choosing Barron’s for each of these tests (If you’re willing to shell out an extra $20, buy PR for Human Geography also, its more detailed. I didn’t use it buy my friend had it and I thought it was better than my Barron’s). But, Barron’s is a godsend for Psych.
Don’t underestimate these two “easy” APs. I definitely didn’t study over the summer before. I was so busy with junior year that I only began studying for Psych the Friday before my exam…I still feel confident for a 5, but that was not a smart move. I thought Human Geography was harder and I spent more time on it. I agree with EngineerHead; don’t start over the summer, but don’t start the week before your exams.
