“For students applying for Fall 2021 entry: we will be accepting unofficial copies of college transcripts, final high school transcripts, college reports, and mid-term grade reports due to processing delays related to COVID-19”
So I’m trying to figure out the fastest way to submit my college transcript and HS transcript to NEU. I was going to email my uni’s registrar’s office and HS respectively and ask them to submit the transcripts, but I wasn’t sure if that meant they would send the transcript by physical mail, which probably won’t make it in time, or digitally by email. I can’t tell if NEU accepts email submissions cos they seem to accept email submissions for the college and mid-term reports while nothing is specified for transcripts.
Since they’re willing to accept unofficial copies I’d email or call your high school and ask them to email a copy of your final transcript.
As far as college transcripts, you should be able to get an unofficial one via your school portal and either upload it into your common app if you can for NEU or email it directly to admissions.
Same with your college report and mid term report. Just fill them out and email them or upload them into the app if you can or the portal per NEU instructions. I’d suggest you put your common app ID on all the documents you email just in case.
To submit an unofficial copy of your College Report, please fill out the form yourself, in its entirety, making sure you answer the three questions towards the bottom of the second page and upload it via your Northeastern Application Status Check portal as “Unofficial College Report”.
Since you’ll need official copies of all those documents if admitted, make sure to work on obtaining those as well.
I can access my college transcript via the school portal, but I can’t save it or anything. The only way I can kind of save it is print screen and then save the webpage as a PDF, which I’m guessing is not the way to do it.
That should work fine. Or you could take a screenshot and save it that way. It’s an unofficial copy. As long as you have a file you can upload or email. You can also ask the registrar to email an official copy. They might get it done within the 2 weeks before the deadline. Last option is if your school uses parchment you might be able to request a copy be sent to the common app.
Ok.
As for the College report, it says: To submit an unofficial copy of your College Report, please fill out the form yourself, in its entirety, making sure you answer the three questions towards the bottom of the second page.
But I’m having trouble filling the form “in its entirety.”
I was able to fill half of the first page, but not the 2nd half (the one that asks for a college official’s name and other details).
Then there’s the second page, which asks for things I’m not sure I can answer because it’s asking it to the college official and not me.
There’s also info that I just don’t know, like whether my GPA is weighted or unweighted.
Should I just ask the registrar’s office do both my college transcript and college report?
Yes if you have access to the registrar request they complete the forms. Let them know your deadline. Just know that you can do unofficial ones if they drag their feet.
If you need an unofficial college report fill in your info and your courses. Leave the GPA stuff blank or make your best estimate. College GPA is generally unweighted.
Then I’m assuming you’d answer yes to the first 2 and no to the second 2 questions towards the bottom of page 2.
Okay.
So giving my high school transcript by email is fine right? I’ve never done this before so I want to make sure.
Also, I was thinking about the college report, and whether getting an “enthusiastic” recommendation in the college report would be a good thing (bottom of page 2). If I ask my advisor (who is writing my LOR), I think he would do it. But because this whole thing is unofficial, I’m not sure how I could get him to do it officially. I’d assume I would have to ask registrar to first fill the college report, and THEN ask them in advance to pass it to my advisor, and then for him to send it back? Is this even worth it because I doubt I can make that whole thing happen…
I’m emailing registrar to see if they can also email my college transcript to NEU just in case.
Yes your HS can email an official transcript as long as it comes directly from their email. They can’t send it to you to submit.
You could see about having your advisor complete the college report but the purpose is really to confirm your academic status as far as GPA, current classes and so forth and that you’re in good standing with out any discipline or criminal issues. It’s usually completed by the registrar. The LOR is really the place for someone to write about you. Given your time constraints I’d try to keep it less complicated. You could also request an additional LOR to submit if you have another professor, mentor etc…willing to write one.
ok thank you.
By the way I wanted to ask, would you happen to know how many credits a typical college course is? my university uses “credit hours” and according to the uni website a typical course is 1.0 credits, equivalent to 4.0 credit hours. I’m not sure how other universities are though. If I input “1.0” for the credit that I get for each course, I’m worried that looks misleadingly low, so I’m using “4.0 credit hours” as of right now.
however, for the mid-term report, it specifically asks for the ‘credit’. I’m tempted to put in “1.0”, because that is what I see on my transcript, but to my knowledge, typical courses are meant to be seen as 3.0 or 4.0 credits right?
So I’m not sure if I should count a course as 1.0 or 4.0.
I’m not certain, it’s school specific. You could list 1.0 credit per class and just note that 1 credit equals 4 credit hours. The registrar can also help you with that as well. You could leave it blank and ask him/her to complete it.
thank you for the tips.
do you by any chance know what I should do if I’m filing a pass/fail course in a mid-term grade report? Would the grade just be either a P or a F? Or would the professor have to submit a number out of 4.0?
I don’t know. My guess is it’s just P\F but I don’t have any experience with that. I’m sorry.
no problem! youve helpe a lot. thank you!
You’re welcome! Good luck with your application!
