So my university's academic year is from Summer to Spring. I have a lot of extra scholarships for this year and wanted to study abroad in the summer but was told that I cannot because the school year ends in spring. Is there any way to work around this? I don't think I will make able to go in spring because of my program.

I just talked to the Study Abroad office today and they told me that my financial aid and outside scholarships will only cover fall, winter, and spring quarter only. Does this mean that I won't be able to study abroad in the summer using my scholarships? Argh.

When you say "extra scholarships", do you mean that with financial aid, merit aid and scholarships you end up with more money than the cost of attendance even once your package was adjusted to take these outside scholarships into consideration? Or are you still waiting for the financial aid department to re adjust your financial aid package?

If it was all merit money (and there will be no adjustment of your package), the extra money should show up in your account and you should be able to withdraw it and use it as you please.

If you had financial aid, the school may use your outside scholarships to reduce loans or workstudy, and then reduce any school scholarships.
