This may be a dumb question, but I really need some advice. What is the best way for me to prepare thorougly for multiple AP exams? Of course memorizing is impossible since the information is massive. So how do you do it exactly? I have 6 months and I want to get all 5s. Can anybody please tell me how you study? If you read, then how many times? How do you recall all this information (esp in AP Biology)?

Bump.. come on guys.

get good review books, read them until you understand and memorize all the material, take practiced tests, and rememorize all the material you forgot.

for ap bio, get cliffnotes, and read it thoroughly to get a 5.

How many times did you read the book? And when is the best time to start?

i read cliffnotes once, and i started studying for all my ap exams around spring break in april

How many APs did you study for?

So, is it a good idea to start prepping two months at most before the exam? I can read the book once, maybe twice at most. Thanks.

read the book once, buy a good AP prep book (look at other posts and you'll find a consensus for almost all subjects) and read the prep book over 2~3 times...

honestly don't stress about Bio... I thought I was so screwed... I really started preparing like 2 weeks before and I had a HORRIBLE teacher. Seriously... in class we covered about 25% of the material. I had to study 75% of the material on my own and I didn't even get through all of Cliff's. I'm thinking I covered about 75% total... and I only knew about 50% of the material thoroughly. In any case, I still pulled a 5. The moral of this story is... obviously don't procrastinate on this stuff, but if you do start prepping early with Cliff's you have absolutely NOTHING to worry about. Go through Cliff's for bio, stay calm, and you'll definitely get a 5.

Okay, my plan if to read Cliffs once or twice starting two weeks before the exam. Do you think its a good idea? Thanks, and congrats

well it really depends how strong your Bio class is. AP classes are (obviously) designed to test the knowledge you obtain in your respective AP classes. If your class gets through everything, then you won't have to prep as extensively and your plan would probably suffice. Even if you don't get through everything, your plan may suffice, but lemme tell ya... those 2 weeks before the test were horrendous for me. I was full of anxiety and totally stressing out because I knew I was screwed. Save yourself from that if possible and start earlier. If you find yourself in a situation like mine, where your class hadn't covered like 3/4 of the material... then realistically speaking, it would be very difficult to get through all of CLiff's one or two times (remember, I wasn't even able to get through all of it once). This is because Cliff's is designed as a book of notes to review with... it can often be frustrating and time-consuming to learn and absorb totally new concepts from Cliff's. My recommendation is to start reviewing at least a month or so beforehand....this will pay off, especially since you're taking additional AP's.

Thanks. I think I'll start reading in February. Anyways, do I have to learn any of the diagrams on Cliffnotes?

I didn't really do much through out the entire year... I just did the labs in class. However, my parents offered me $50 if I got a 5 on AP Bio (Since they knew I had a B in the class, etc.). So I reread Campbells like 1 or 2 weeks before the test and got my 5 (Yeah, all 1,000+ flippin pages).

It was a good read though, so it went fast. The test is all about memorization. It was definitely one of the easier AP tests I took.

What stuff did you memorize? And wasnt it really difficult to memorize the materials from Cambells?

the diagrams supplement the information... so they're good to help you understand the material... you don't need to memorize them necessarily.

So none of the diagrams will show up on the exam?

for bio, read only the cliffnotes . Read it several times so you can memorize all the information. Textbooks have WAY too much information in it and will not help you on the AP Exam. I got a 5 on the AP Exam solely based on my reading and understanding of the cliffnotes book. Of course, my memory is bad so I read it like 5 times that year :-P
