Ok so I’m a going to be taking the PSAT and SAT next year and I just found out after buying about $50 of test prep that they’re completely changing the test. I’ve read about the changes but have a couple of questions.
- Will studying the old SAT benefit me at all? Also I heard it's going to be more like the ACT so could it be helpful to study ACT prep books?
- Most importantly I want to know how to study for the new tests? When will updated review books be available? How do yall thing I should study until then?
- It can't hurt just keep in mind there is no longer a penalty for guessing.
- I have the new official College Board book on pre order from Amazon and they say ship date is June 30. Some sample questions are up on the College Board web site. I also have the New PSAT book from Ivy Global.
anyone know if there is new SAT prep material up on Khan Academy yet?
How is the new PSAT book?
Its pretty straightforward. The first part of the book goes into great detail about the types of questions that will be in each section and some basic test taking tips. The rest of the book is 3 full lengths PSAT tests. Since the book was published before many sample questions were released from the College Board its the authors best guess at the test. Actually I was pleasantly surprised at the quality of the writing and content, since it was released so early I feared it might have just been something hurriedly put together but that wasn’t the case at all.
The one thing that stood out to me was the two part question in the reading section where you are asked to site the lines which best prove your prior answer. I think that’s something the students are really going to have to be careful about.
I’m just the mom, my son is going to start on this book on Monday, I’ll report back when he’s done
Ok thanks I think I’ll buy it
