Okay so, I don't know how to tackle the challenges with studying for the SSAT's vocab & analogies. My friend said it was really hard, so I'm really taking all the precautions I can to get a great grade on this. How can I study and enhance my vocabulary? Usually I can study vocab words very easily, but that's because I know which ones to study. In this case, I don't know which words will be on the test so it's going to be a bit hard. Take in mind, I don't want to omit a lot of questions. Is there a list, somewhere, that will give the vocabulary that will be on the test?

I used these two books:

[Amazon.com: Direct Hits Core Vocabulary of the SAT: Volume 1 2011 Edition (9780981818450): Larry Krieger, Ted Griffith: Books](http://www.amazon.com/Direct-Hits-Core-Vocabulary-SAT/dp/0981818455/ref=sr_1_fkmr0_3?ie=UTF8&qid=1293677179&sr=8-3-fkmr0)

[Amazon.com: Direct Hits Toughest Vocabulary of the SAT: Volume 2 2011 Edition (9780981818467): Larry Krieger, Ted Griffith: Books](http://www.amazon.com/Direct-Hits-Toughest-Vocabulary-SAT/dp/0981818463/ref=pd_sim_b_1)

I really liked how the books used current events, popular movies, tv shows, and other things that I found easy to connect the words to. I had the first book memorized and I barely skimmed the second book and got a great score. The books are directed towards the SAT but I found several of the words on the SSAT also.

Here’s another resource that a few people in the SAT forum gave me:

http://eaop.ucr.edu/NR/rdonlyres/CC917BD7-32B3-4E98-B7CB-A77328A13848/5516/satvocab.pdf

It is just a listing of 1000 SAT words and definitions. It lacks the examples that the first two books have but its free, so you can’t really complain.

Good Luck!!!

Okay thankyou! I’m going to buy both for my Kindle tomorrow! :)

buuuuuump?

I used the Preparing & Applying book from the SSAT (you can’t get this one from regular bookstores - you have to order them online from [SSAT - Online Guide](http://www.ssat.org) ) and one from Barron’s.

I found flashcards.dictionary.com very helpful (FIVE STARS!). I put in words from the vocab list and made my own stack of flashcards and studied it. it was VERY VERY HELPFUL! CHECK THEM OUT!
